Hanna and Her Sisters

As we watch and hope for the best for the folks along the coast of Louisiana and Mississippi, a glance out into the tropical Atlantic shows a train of tropical disturbances lining up and slowly chugging west.

Next in line is Tropical Storm Hanna (second from the left in the top graphic). At this point the National Weather Service is not sure how Hanna will affect the region. Extended forecasts bring what remains of the storm up into New England next weekend. But Hanna is strengthening much faster than expected, and will probably be a hurricane by the time the National Hurricane Center makes their next update at 2:00 PM – and the long range forecast will change accordingly.

Southeast swells of 3 feet/12 seconds will be propagating along our waters today.
