Pontiac Bridge Closes
RIDOT will be shutting down the Pontiac Bridge as of Monday, July 19. The historic March flooding of the Pocasset River impacted the bridge, which had already been deemed unfit to carry buses and trucks over 10 tons. The new bridge would allow the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority to restore bus 22 to its former route to the prison and the malls.
The construction is expected to last about 30 days, roughly 9 years and 11 months shorter than the Barrington Bridge project. Traffic will be directed through Garden City during construction – visit the RIDOT web site for the detour map.

The Warwick Commuter Rail Station Set To Open October 27
The commuter rail station at T.F. Green airport in Warwick is set to open on October 27. The building, called the InterLink, includes a parking garage, car rental facilities, a RIPTA bus stop and moving walkways that connect the station to the airport terminal. The tentative schedule calls for 3 commuter trains from Warwick in the morning, and 3 return trains. The details of the schedule are being finalized by RIDOT and the MBTA.
